From Malaysia to Timor-Leste マレーシアから東ティモールへ

マレーシア、クアラルンプールから東ティモール　ディリへ。

早朝便。　「Timor- Leste」と書いてある指示版に少し不安に。

私は恥ずかしいことに「East Timor」としか認識していなかったので、係員に確認。

「東ティモール行きだよ。あなたは医者として東ティモールに行くの？」

特別な人しか東ティモールには赴任しない状況なのが分かる質問。

「ごめんなさい、医者ではなくて、夫が働いているので家族としていきます」

「そうなんだ！気を付けてね！」

 

私が現段階で東ティモールに行けるのはとても特別な状況であることを

改めて実感。感謝しなくては。

 

ドキドキの離陸。

ちなみに私は大の飛行機嫌い。

だけど奄美出身で、海外生活も4か国目。

何故だか飛行機を乗りまくる人生になってしまった。。

毎回「この飛行機は落ちるかも」とゆう思いで乗り、祖母の形見のロザリオを握っている。

 

恐る恐る離陸時に窓を見る。

美しい朝焼けと濃く深い緑色の素晴らしいグラデーションに感動。

 

その後もあまり高度が高くない空路で島々と環礁を見ることができた。

エメラルドグリーンと濃い青と、島々の緑と。

 

海外協力隊で暮らしていたモルディブの任地への飛行機を思い出した。

ちょっと違うのは島にはちゃんと山があること。

（モルディブは山がなくほぼ島は海抜０ｍ）

 

見ていて飽きることのない窓の風景と

マレーシアのカレー機内食も美味しく

おかげで楽しいフライト時間を過ごすことができた。

 

さあ、ついに到着。。

From Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Dili, Timor-Leste.

An early morning flight. I was a little worried when I saw the instructions that said "Timor-Leste."

To my embarrassment, I only knew it as "East Timor," so I asked the attendant to confirm.

"this  flight heading to Timor-Leste. Are you going to Timor-Leste as a doctor?"

This question made it clear that only special people are sent to Timor-Leste.

"Sorry, I'm not a doctor, but my husband works there, so I'm going as a family."

"Oh, really! Be careful!"

 

I once again realized that it is very special that I can go to Timor-Leste at this stage. I have to be grateful.

 

A nervous takeoff.

By the way, I hate flying.

But I'm from Amami, and this is my fourth country to live abroad.

Somehow, I've ended up flying a lot.

Every time I board, I think, "This plane might crash," and I clutch  rosary that was a keepsake from my grandmother.

I look out the window timidly as we take off.

I'm moved by the beautiful sunrise and the wonderful gradation of the deep, rich green.

 

After that, we were able to see the islands and atolls from a flight that wasn't too high.

Emerald green, deep blue, and the green of the islands.

It reminded me of the flight to the Maldives, where I was working as a member of the Japan International Cooperation Volunteers.

The difference is that the islands actually have mountains.

(There are no mountains in the Maldives, and most islands are at sea level.)

 

The scenery outside the window is never boring to look at, and even the Malaysian curry in-flight meal is tasty.

so I had a fun time traveling.

 

And now, we've finally arrived.
